The latest version of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) requires enclosure and duct tightness to be tested and verified by a qualified technician. Our Training options provide builders, quality control inspectors, code officials, weatherization technicians, building inspectors, and HVAC technicians with the skills needed to perform blower door and duct tightness testing, and prepares participants for the BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage Certification Exam.
Beyond the codes, Diagnostic Testing of buildings has been the baseline requirement for State, Federal and Utility programs for over a decade as it provides necessary, measurable and scientifically conclusive evidence and benefits to homeowners as well as builders.
We have been providing BPI training and proctoring BPI Certification exams nationally since 2009.
Earning the Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification is a simple, comprehensive, and affordable way for builders, remodelers, HVAC, insulation, and other contractors to gain the skills needed to offer duct leakage and blower door tests, in compliance with IECC codes for new home construction or existing home remodels.
By earning the IDL certification, you prove that you can conduct duct leakage tests to the ASTM E1554-07 standard and blower door tests to the ASTM E779 standard. The 6th Edition (2017) Florida Building Code air leakage testing requirements are specified in Section R402.4.1.2 of the residential Energy Conservation volume. This BPI certification complies with the Florida Codes.
